What is CR (Neoprene®)?
Neoprene®, also known as CR-rubber is a derivative of the chemical name polycholoropreen. This elastomer is mainly produced by polymerising a certain substance called chloroprene. NDS-Seals is an expert in the production and manufacturing of this synthetic rubber. Neoprene® rubber is present in almost every industry, which explains why NDS-Seals commonly supplies the following industries.
- Heating, Ventilation & Air-conditioning
- Automotive
- Food & Beverages
- Oil & Gas
- Medical appliances
- Household appliances
Neoprene® rings have excellent barrier properties capable of handling situations involving a wide variety of chemical and natural compounds. Seawater is regarded as one of the most common natural fluids requiring the use of Neoprene® rubber. The shipping industry is consecutively one of the biggest consumers of Neoprene® products. Besides the shipping industry, Neoprene® gaskets, bands and foam are often incorporated in cooling -& freezing applications since they can handle extreme temperatures of -55°C. Additionally, the material has a substantial barrier against acids, oils, solvents, ozone and other environmental compounds. The high mechanical properties are in various industrial applications in favour for the choice of Neoprene® rubber.
