During time, there are many definitions made of the concept “quality”.
Some of them:
- Fitness for use - Joseph Juran
- Conformance to requirements - Phil Crosby
- The set of characteristics of an entity that give that entity
the ability to satisfy expressed and implicit needs.- NEN EN ISO 8402
All these definitions are true but are also limited in their usage.
A definition of quality which is mostly useful is:

According this definition the concept quality can be worked out.
The definition is valid for the whole organization.
To meet the expectations of the customer everybody in the organization must deliver the right service or product. To achieve this, a systematical approach is necessary. A quality system.
